In May 9th, 2017, Tan Lihong, president of Hunan Children’s Hospital and Louise Sheperd , CEO of Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, signed a memorandum of understanding, to further cooperate in such areas as hospital management, discipline development, talents cultivation and clinical research. It marks the beginning of all-around collaboration between Hunan Children’s Hospital and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

Alder Hey is one of Europe’s busiest children’s hospitals, providing care for over 270,000 children each year. Alder Hey has a broad range of hospital and community services, including many for direct referral from Primary Care. The hospital has 270 beds,including 48 critical care beds for patients in ICU, HDU and Burns. The new integrated operating theatres are digitally enhanced, moving Alder Hey to the forefront of operating theatre technology. The hospital will have cutting edge lifesaving equipment including an intra-operative scanner, a CARTO system,a new Brain Lab navigation system and the UK’s first EOS imaging scanner.We are a designated national centre for head and face surgery and a centre of excellence for heart, cancer, spinal and brain disease. Alder Hey is a designated Major Trauma Centre, and is one of four national Children’s Epilepsy Surgical Centre.
