The “Training Course on Prevention & Treatment of Pediatric Common Diseases for Developing Countries” kicked off on August 9, 2024. The training course aims to enhance the professional capacity of developing countries in the prevention and treatment of common childhood diseases and promote international medical and health cooperation and exchanges. Seventeen experts from five countries, Afghanistan, Nepal, Lesotho, Sierra Leone and Zanzibar, traveled thousands of miles and crossed thousands of mountains and rivers to gather in Changsha. Zhou Aizhong, Director of Hunan Department of Commerce and Qu Shuangquan, vice president of Hunan Children's Hospital attended the opening ceremony.

He has been committed to promoting international cooperation in medical and health care, and hopes to further strengthen friendly relations with developing countries through this training course, and jointly contribute to the cause of global children's health.
In her speech, Ms. SARAH KADIJATU CONTEH, a student representative from Sierra Leone, thanked the Chinese government and Hunan Children's Hospital on behalf of all the students for providing valuable learning opportunities. She said that through this training, she is very much looking forward to mastering China's advanced technology and experience in the prevention and treatment of common children's diseases, and bringing this knowledge back to the motherland to contribute to improving children's health. Ms. Sala also highly appreciated the outstanding achievements of China's medical aid to foreign countries, and affirmed the pediatric medical cooperation with Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Zanzibar and other developing countries, which she believed not only promoted the exchange of medical technology, but also deepened the friendship between them.
The 21-day "Technical Training Course on Prevention and Treatment of Common Diseases in Children in Developing Countries" will conduct in-depth discussions and exchanges on the prevention and treatment of common diseases in children such as childhood pneumonia, childhood epilepsy and neonatal jaundice. During the visit, the participants will visit Hunan Children's Hospital and other medical institutions to learn about children's medical services and management in China, and arrange cultural visits and visits to related enterprises. This training course demonstrates China's positive attitude and sense of responsibility in international medical and health cooperation, and provides an important opportunity and strong support for developing countries to improve children's health.
