In this golden autumn season, the Ultrasound Department of Hunan Children's Hospital successfully held the "Training Course on Non-invasive Tumor Therapy by Focused Ultrasound in Developing Countries" from October 8 to October 22, welcoming 11 students from Sierra Leone, Grenada, Zanzibar, Mexico, Liberia and Solomon Islands.
The curriculum of this workshop is rich and diverse, including a variety of non-invasive cancer treatment core techniques. The ultrasound-guided thyroid and lymph node puncture lectures led by Professor Liu Jinqiao, director of the Ultrasound Department, combined with detailed theoretical analysis and clinical examples, made the students deeply understand the accuracy and importance of ultrasound in interventional therapy. Hu Yuan, deputy chief physician, gave an in-depth explanation on the ultrasonic manifestations of cardiac tumors for the students, demonstrating the key role of ultrasound technology in the diagnosis of complex tumors. Zhang Jie, deputy chief physician, vividly introduced the clinical operation of ultrasound-guided lymphangioma puncture and drug injection through practical examples, presenting the details of precise and minimally invasive treatment for the students. The attending physician of Pengya systematically explained the theory and operation of ultrasound-guided liver and liver tumor puncture, helping the students master the key points and skills in liver interventional therapy.
In addition, Professor Wang Zhiyuan from Hunan Cancer Hospital and Professor Zhao Kang from Hunan People's Hospital were specially invited to lecture on TIRADS/BIRADS grading and case sharing of thyroid and breast tumors and ultrasound guided ablation therapy of liver tumors, which further expanded the participants' comprehensive understanding of non-invasive tumor treatment technology.
During the two-week study, students from many countries actively participated in the practice and fully experienced the cutting-edge technology and efficient process of ultrasound-guided interventional therapy. The international students generally said that the workshop broadened their horizons, improved their technical level, and brought what they learned back to their home countries for clinical diagnosis and treatment of childhood tumors. A student from Sierra Leone said, "Hunan Children's Hospital's non-invasive treatment technology and clinical experience have provided a valuable reference for oncology treatment in our country, and I look forward to bringing this advanced knowledge and technology back to benefit our patients."
The successful holding of this seminar not only highlights the technical advantages of the ultrasound Department of Hunan Children's Hospital in the field of pediatric noninvasive tumor treatment in China, but also further promotes the important position of the department in the international medical technology exchange. Through this professional training, the medical technical cooperation between the hospital and developing countries has reached a new level, and they are jointly committed to improving the level of children's health and contributing to the cause of global children's health.
