Ambassador of the Republic of Tanzania to China Visits Hospital

On July 27^th, 2022, Ambassador Mbelwa Kairuki and Minister Plenipotentary Miraji Ukuti Ussi of the Republic of Tanzania in China visited Hunan Children's Hospital. Li Junhua, Deputy General Director of Health Commission of Hunan Province，Xiao Junye, Division Chief of International Cooperation Department，president Xiao Zhenghui and vice president Wang Hua of the hospital met with the delegation.  

At the meeting, president Xiao Zhenghui extended a warm welcome to the ambassador and his delegation and introduced hospital’s development history, discipline building, and international cooperation, especially the Sino-Tanzanian health cooperation. She pointed out China and Tanzania have always maintained close cooperation in health. As a national medical aid training unit, Hunan Children's Hospital has trained nearly 200 health workers for the Republic of Tanzania from 2009 to the present. Among them, the hospital dispatched experts to Tanzania in 2017 and 2018 for overseas training on hospital management and pediatric appropriate technology. It has helped to improve the local pediatric diagnosis and treatment level as well as medical service capacity.

After listening to the report, Mr. Ambassador Mberwa Kairuki praised the rapid development achievements of the hospital since its establishment. He expressed his gratitude for sharing experience in pediatrics to Tanzania over the years and suggested further exchange and cooperation. He also welcomed Chinese experts to Tanzania and Zanzibar again after the pandemic to pass on experience in building better medical system and the train more health talents.

At last, Li Junhua, deputy general director of Health Commission of Hunan Province, concluded that the health cooperation between Hunan Children's Hospital and the Republic of Tanzania was a concrete manifestation of China and Tanzania working together to build "a community with shared future for humankind". It is hoped that with the opportunity of the ambassador's visit to Hunan, the two sides could deepen the existing cooperation areas and further expand the cooperation and exchange in such areas as prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic, tropical diseases and parasitic diseases.
